Professional sport support

The history of professional sports support by MTS Ukraine begins as far back as in 2000 when UMC sponsored the Ukrainian Olympic team and provided mobile communication services to Ukrainian athletes during the Sydney Olympics. It was already in 2005 when MTS became the title sponsor of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Ukraine and the mobile operator of Ukraine’s national Olympic team.  

 

In 2009 MTS prolonged the agreement on cooperation for years 2009 - 2012 with NOC of Ukraine. Within the frames of this agreement the company renders financial support and mobile communication services including roaming services to NOC of Ukraine during the period of preparation of Ukrainian athletes towards the XXI Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games and the XXX London 2012 Olympic Games as well as the I Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games and Innsbruck 2012 Winter Youth Olympic Games.

 

 

Starting from 2006 MTS Ukraine has been the official mobile partner of the Pole Vault Stars event, a popular international pole vaulting competition.

 

 

In 2010 the operator acted as a partner of the Euro Ice Hockey Challenge 2010 international hockey tournament and the World Junior Hockey Championship (juniors of up to 18 year old) which was held in Ukraine under the patronage of the International Ice Hockey Federation.  

 

 

 

 

The company also cares about the oncoming generation of sportsmen by supporting the national junior competitions in tennis, fencing etc.  

 

Besides, MTS actively participates in the events purposed at popularization of sports and healthy lifestyle, which are carried out by NOC of Ukraine and various non-governmental organizations. Such events included, in particular, Olympic Day annual sports festival, All-Ukrainian Olympic Lesson, Family Sports Festival, Kyiv Half Marathon and others.
