Education projects

The purpose of the project is to ensure, with the help of up-to-date technologies being at MTS disposal,   equal educational possibilities for all pupils regardless of the region and place of their residence.    

The project is being implemented in all regions of Ukraine. It consists in supplying children’s educational institutions with modern Internet access technologies and, in particular, with the help of the MTS Connect 3G service on the basis of the CDMA-450 technology which is a novelty in Ukraine. The project involves city/town and suburban schools, boarding schools, children’s homes and orphanages which were not connected to the wired Internet before.

 

 

Presently more than 100 institutions in which over 50 thousand children study are equipped with broadband high-speed Internet. Besides, five Ukrainian public libraries were also connected to mobile Internet. Implementation of this initiative became possible thanks to joining the Mobile Internet from MTS to Schools project within the Bibliomost program funded by Bill and Melinda Gates and implemented by the International Research and Exchanges Board (IREX) and Microsoft Ukraine.  

 

Within the frames of the Mobile Internet from MTS to Schools project the pilot initiative for ensuring the children’s safety online was realized on the basis of new software developed by the Odesa National Academy of Telecommunications named after O. S. Popov. This means the system of filtration of dangerous and immoral content in the Internet network. The system was installed in nine educational institutions of Odesa, Mykolaiv and Kherson. Effectiveness of the said system was tested by school teachers and specialists from the Academy and received a positive evaluation from the MTS information safety experts.  

 

 

The competition among students of higher technical institutions that is run under the patronage of the Ministry of Education, Science, Youth and Sports of Ukraine, the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine and the National Commission for Communications Regulation of Ukraine.   

 

 

 

“Professionals of the Future” is the first long-term program of supporting the students bringing together education, practical experience, scholarships from MTS and an opportunity to undertake internship in the operator’s directorate. The fourth year students of the leading higher technical institutions of Kyiv, Sevastopol, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, Donetsk, Lviv, Zaporizhia, Ternopil and Simferopol are invited to take part in the program.   

 

The unique feature of the program is that it is a competition of the scientific works which are prepared with involvement of students, lecturers of higher educational institutions and experts in the field as consultants. Every year the MTS technical experts choose a theme of the competition taking into account the latest world’s trends in the sphere of telecommunications. In fact, the participants of the competition fulfill real technical tasks that the mobile communications operator faces in its daily activities.    

 

 

The program consists of the preliminary and competition rounds. Based on the results of the preliminary round each higher educational institution forms a team which will work on the joint project devoted to the selected theme during the entire competition round. The culmination of the competition is a public presentation of the projects before the competition commission.   

 

Since 2006 more than 1,500 students participated in the competition “Professionals of the Future”.  

 

 

The first Ukrainian national partner project in the sphere of education which contemplates integration of the unique practical skills and experience of corporations into the process of training of future specialists.  

 

 

The participants of the project are the largest employers of Ukraine: MTS Ukraine, METRO Cash & Carry Ukraine and Kyiv Investment Group, leading higher educational institutions such as the Taras Shevchenko University, the National Technical University of Ukraine Kyiv Polytechnic Institute and the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy. The project is implemented with the support of the Ministry of Education, Science, Youth and Sports of Ukraine. The partners of the Intercorporate University are TZ Partners and Vimm-Bill-Dann Ukraine.

 

The mission of the Intercorporate University is formation of a new generation of professionals. The purpose of the project lies in building of an adaptive system of knowledge management and improvement of qualification level of undergraduates of both technical and humanitarian specialties in order to form in them management and communication skills (soft skills) in demand by employers. The primary objective of the Intercorporate University consists in developing the programs, educating the students and organizing internship for them taking into account the needs of modern business and the real situation on the labor market.

 

 

In 2010 the Intercorporate University took the first place in the second National Competition of Business Cases for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) among the Ukrainian companies. Ukrainian and international experts on issues of the CSR development recognized “Intercorporate University” as the best social project of Ukraine.
